Acid/Alkaline Food Balance to Control Acne

The acid-alkaline balance of our body helps maintain a healthy biological terrain. This biological terrain is the state of our body’s tissues and functions. Infections, like parasites, fungi, and acne lesions are signs of an imbalanced biological terrain. Animal products, refined foods (e.g. sugars and flours), nuts, and seeds are acidic and may create acid residues once metabolized by the body.

These foods contain higher amounts of the minerals phosphorous, sulfur, chlorine, and iodine. Too much chlorine and iodine in the diet can aggravate acne. Alkaline-generating foods provide higher levels of calcium, magnesium, potassium, and sodium. You’ll find alkaline producing minerals in high water content fruits and vegetables, as well as some grains and almonds.
